well I watched the royal wedding today because I love weddings and deep down I still love Cinderella and am sure I am a long lost princess!
loved everything about the wedding and am so happy for them. still wish I could wear a fascinator! maybe someday!

Ode to the Peep...

I picked up treats tonight to include in the Easter baskets for the boys.  As I was gathering my treasures I saw the SURE SIGN that Easter has arrived!  The Peeps!  I bought one box of Peeps tonight at WalMart because there should only be five individual Peeps in one household at any given moment.  Anymore then five and you are just inviting trouble.  I don't buy the rabbits because they come in a 12 pack.   


I've walked past the end-cap of Peeps about 100 x's in the past month and a half.  I've picked up the boxes, turned them around in my hand, compared the yellow bunnies to the yellow chicks...and always put the boxes back.  Tonight was different.  Tonight we are single digits away from the Easter celebration!  ONE PACKAGE OF PEEPS PLEASE!


I'm feeling rather protective of my five pack of yellow chick Peeps tonight.  No one knows I brought them home....  


I could hide them under my side of the bed, peel back a corner of the cellophane and wait for them to grow their hard outside shell but sustain their soft marshmallow center consistency.  *I should have vacuumed under the bed* 


I could go snatch them out of the basket they are nestled in, rip open the package and microwave five little Peeps for 15 seconds until they are PERFECT!!!  *microwave beeps may wake the children*


I think what this whole thing boils down to really is safety.  Four Peeps in the house is MUCH safer then five.  *The sacrifices I make for the safety of my family*

Well it is Holy Thursday and another busy day. At least the weather was better today...the sun actually is shining! and no rain. In a few months we will be begging for rain.
I got home from work and picked up sticks in my yard, feels good to start some yard work. After touring the greenhouse last night I am ready to plant flowers. All my bulbs are up, daffs are blooming, early tulips too. Lots more are ready just need some warmth!

Think Spring!

Last night Vicki, Suzi and Mallory attended an open house at Creque's Greenhouse.  You may not know this but "the moms" all have amazing gardening skills.  "The daughters" are still working on their gardening skills, but we'll get it someday.  The flowers were all blooming and smelled lovely.  While there we ran into Joyce and Tom (also Mika's)  Now I'm even more ready for spring to get here!!  Instead it's raining and in the 30s...  Maybe we'll see the sun next week?!?!

We are a very fortunate family. We laugh, cry, support, criticize and compliment each other as our lives change and grow. The older we become the more we appreciate being together. Life never seems to slow down, just changes. I am the middle sister... always and still chasing my sisters.
I live in California. We (my husband Randy & I) love to travel! Right now we are in Maine. We are cleaning and caring for his family home....  rearranging treasures & exploring antique stores to add to the collection! Their homestead is in the countryside in Dresden along the Eastern River. It is not far from Bath and Damariscotta, wonderful coastal towns. Raining today.. a good day to clean!

The cookie bake is one of our favorite times of year. We all enjoy being together...I use to think that was how everyones family was, then discovered we are the odd family that we enjoy being together.
The next best thing is Petoskey in the summer and we are going again this year!

Hello I'm Mallory!

I'm happily the youngest of the Mika cousins from Ohio.  Which means it took me about 19 years of convincing before they believed me that I was cool :)  I'm excited for our new blogging adventure!  We are a strong and hard working group of women, and we of course have a lot to say.

Cookie Bake 2007

These are some of my favorite people in this picture.  It's April 18, 2011...nowhere near Cookie Bake time.  We're about 220 days away from D.C....the home of Mika Cookie Bake 2011!  


Cookie Bake is one of my favorite times of the year.  Sugar, flour, Great Grandma's recipe, sprinkles, frosting, Trivia Pursuit, non-stop laughing (lots of laughing) and the whirl of the KitchenAid mixer...all good things.
